La Ricotta is first and foremost a way of life, an attempt to put into practise what we consider to be fundamental principles, which are reflected in both our theory and practice regarding work, economy, knowledge, leisure and interpersonal relationships. For this reason, the visits are thought of as a communal experience, sharing our everyday life and actively engaging our guests in all the activities that our project entails. It is also a way to take our ideas (and our mistakes) beyond the geographical boundaries we can physically reach.
La Ricotta is conceived as a project that is open to involving who shares its goals, within the limits and committment in their own possibilities. For this reason, anyone who is interested in our project is welcome to visit us, spending a more or less extended period of time with us, and sharing our daily life as well as contributing to the development of the project itself.
We require anyone interested in getting familiar with La Ricotta that the first visit last for a minimum and maximum of one week. This allows our guests enough time to gain at least a general comprehension of the project and makes the experience meaningful for both the guests and us. Furthermore, such a duration helps preventing the experience from becoming too intense for anyone. Were the experience be fulfilling for everyone, a second visit can be discussed, with a duration that can be agreed upon to be either a week or longer, according to the everyone’s needs and availability.
Even though La Ricotta has been conceived to involve and host more persons than those who are effectively involved in the project, there are physiological limits that set a maximum number of people who can visit us simultaneously. These limits are set by the effective capability of the La Ricotta members to accompanying our guests; by the subsistence of the project itself; by the space , which, although not too small, is not infinite either. For this reason, the dates of the visits need to be agreed upon between the interested person and the members of La Ricotta. We have a few rooms for our guests, and we can also offer the possibility of staying in camping tent during the period between the second half of spring and the first half of autumn.
Our hope is that the first visit will encourage our guests to return and help establish a long-lasting relationship. In this case, it would be possible to arrange longer visits. On the one hand one of the reasons for conceiving La Ricotta as an open project has been to share ideas, their implementation, and extend this experience beyond our immediate circle. On the other hand, another reason is to build closer relationships, with an increasing degree of committment that can become stable over time and, eventually, inspire someone to become a member of La Ricotta.
Finally, we ask you to inform us if you would like to bring your pets with you. While they are generally welcome, depending on the specific period, the task to be carried out, and the potential simultaneous presence of other animals, problems may arise. For this reason, it is essential that you let us know if you wish to bring your pets. Although we are generally happy to welcome them, there may be circumstances where we can ask you to leave them to someone you trust.
